AUGUSTA - Charlie Brown passed away in Augusta on Monday, July 26, 2010. He was born in Eastport on April 24, 1935, the son of Charles Brown, Sr. and Lillian (Avery) Brown. He grew up in Eastport and graduated from Shead High School in 1953.

Charlie worked for several years driving the Washington County Bookmobile to the rural schools of Washington County. He also worked as a projectionist at several theaters and was a radio broadcaster. He enjoyed the thrill of doing a play by play of one of the local school boy basketball games. Charlie worked at radio stations from Machias to Poland Spring.

He is survived by his three children, David Brown of North Conway, N.H., Cindy Brown Elliott and her husband, James, of Eastport, and Danny Brown and his wife, Donna, of Willow Springs, N.C.; four grandchildren, Irene Wade and her husband, Nate, of Manchester, Brad Shaw of Biddeford, Veronica Brown of North Conway and Adam Brown of Willow Springs, N.C.; nine great-grandchildren,Michael, Steven, Lauren and Sarah Sirois of Manchester, Joshua, Lilly and Tiara Johnson, Robin Benjamin and Carlos Mondragon, all of Worcester, Mass.; and nephews Robert, Paul, Brian and Steven Theriault of Eastport.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife Marilyn Brown; sister Dixie Brown Theriault and grandson Adam Brown.

A graveside service will be held at at the Hillside Cemetery in Eastport.
