Richard J. Hamp, 86, formerly of Quarryville, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Oscar and Laura (Kramer) Hamp. He is survived by his wife Beulah (Gaul) Hamp.
Richard served our country in the United States Navy. He was aboard the minesweeper, USS Raven, in the English Channel on D-Day. He retired from Armstrong World Industries. Richard was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Quarryville. On two separate occasions, he made trips to Russia with the church to build orphanages for the needy. Richard was a past master of the Washington Lodge #156 F.&A.M., he was a member of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge, and was also a scout master of Boy Scout Troop #40 in Quarryville.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter, Barbara Weicksel, and a son, Barry Hamp; three grandchildren, and a great- grandchild.
Funeral Services will take place at the Sell Chapel of the Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, PA 17022 on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at 11:00 AM. Military honors will follow the service.
