Obituary from the Versailles Leader:

"Mary Emily Peoples was born February 8th 1864 and died at her home north of Akinsville Tuesday morning, August 11, 1925. She made a profession of faith in Christ at the age of thirteen and united with Mt. Carmel Baptist church. In 1882 she was married to Thruston R. Stone who died in 1887. No children were born to this union. Later she was married to P. D. Akin, who still survives. To this union six children were born: Maudie, who died in infancy, Mrs. Grace Hall of Eldon, Mo., Mrs. Gertie White of Fortuna, Mo., George of Columbia, Mo., and Gladys and Goldie at home. She is also survived by six brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were conducted at Akinsville Baptist church Wednesday August 12th at 3:00 P.M. by Rev. S. T. Stone whose text was 2nd Tim. 7th: I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge shall love his appearance." The 7th verse of this text was the inscription she placed upon her first husband's tombstone.

An exceedingly large crowd attended the funeral and the remains were intermend in the Akinsville cemetery."

Mary was the daughter of George Alexander and Mary (Moon) Peoples.

On October 4, 1888, she married Porter Akin; a widower with many children. Their children were

Gertrude Truman,
Grace Ann,
Mary Lucindy,
Maude,
Goldia Shannon, and
Gladys Thompson.

Mary died at home of intestinal hemorrhage with complications from dysentery (Missouri death certificate # 24537).
