George was a railroader. He also ran a canal boat from Canal Winchester, Ohio, thru Groveport, Ohio; and on into the south end of Columbus, Ohio. He always wore a mustache.

Obituary: George W Hamler 72, died Friday at his home in Groveport, following a lengthy illness. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mary Hamler; two sons, W.D. and Merlin Hamler; three daughters, Mrs Grace Fowler, Mrs. Laura Hanway and Mrs. Emma Graves; two brothers, Edward and Jacob Hamler; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral at 2 P.M. Sunday at the home, with burial in Groveport Cemetery by Denton & Donaldson.
