Funeral rites for Harry A. Ashburn were held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon, November 22, in the chapel of the Farris Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. P. Home conducted by the Rev. P. L. Mitchell, pastor of the First Methodist Church.
Mrs. O. Meisenheimer, at the organ, sang "Peace in the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Casket bearers were: Willard Wiley, Billy Wells, Homer Wells, Wilbur McCain, Bruno Weiss and Cecil Bell. Burial was in the Garnett cemetery.
Harry Allen Ashburn, son of William Allen and Samanthia Ann Leper Ashburn was born in Garnett, Kansas, July 17, 1893, and passed away November 20, 1959, at Garnett at the age of 65 years, four months and three days.
He was united in marriage to Matilda Ellen Morris on March 31, 1915. To this union were born 10 children, Lonnie Ray and Larry Dean are now deceased: still living are five daughters and three sons:, Mrs. Jim Welborn, Clearwater, Kas.; Mrs. Clifford McCurdy, Williamsburg; Mrs. Nick Foltz; Mrs. Klebe Cox, Garnett; Mrs. Robert Dunlap, Kincaid,; William A. Ashburn, Greeley; Ira D. Ashburn, Kincaid, and Ronald D. Ashburn, Enid, Okla.
He is also survived by 36 living grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; by two sisters, Mrs. Wayne Lee of Hill City, Kansas, and Mrs. Myrtle Dickson, Garnett, and by one brother, Irvin Ashburn, Garnett. (D.A.E.)
