... Arthur L. "Buzz" Brown, Jr., of Burney who died Sept. 30, 2006, after a long illness.

Buzz left this world a better place. Everyday he lived his life with integrity, passion, love and service to his community.

He was born in Fallon, Nev., to Arthur L. And Rosalie Brown on Aug. 16, 1947. The family moved to Burney when Buzz was 9 years old. He graduated from Fall River High School in 1965.

Buzz found the love of his life in Sandy Callaham. The high school sweethearts married Aug. 20, 1966 at Burney Presbyterian Church.

Buzz welcomed another great love in 1968 when Nanette joined the family. Buzz's life was so full of love that it wasn't long before he began to share his life and talents with the community.

Buzz was happiest when he was working, playing, eating, and laughing with family, friends and those who would soon become a part of his life.

As proprietor of the Burney Alpine Drive-In for eight years, he enriched the lives of many locals with the creation of such menu items as the "Billy Burger."

An enthusiastic hunter and fisherman Buzz shared his bounty joyfully. His delight in landing a fish, or hunting game was always secondary to his wonder at the marvel of nature and the companionship of family and friends.

The Intermountain area was Buzz's home. He was always a gracious host. He spent many hours building his community.

The Fort Crook Masonic Lodge, the Jaycees, and the Burney Lions Club all benefited from his energy and dedication.

From 1972 to 1987 residents and guests to Burney oohed and ahhed at the 4th of July fireworks that were safely staged and supervised by Buzz.

With his passing, Buzz joins his infant son, Arthur L. Brown III, and his older sister Judy Miller who preceded him in death.

Grieving his loss but celebrating their time together are his wife Sandy Brown, his daughter Nanette Bennett, son-in-law Jim Bennett, grandchildren Bryan and Ashley Bennett, parents Art and Rosalie Brown, and a large extended family.

Buzz always said, "Live, laugh and love each day. If kindness and generosity come your way, pass it on."
