Leona Alsadie Barrington was known as Sadie. She was born on Feb. 28, 1871 in Wiota Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the second youngest of thirteen children of James W. Barrington and Phoebe Rachel Bennett. When she was seven years old she went with her parents and six siblings to Woodbury County, Iowa and, two years later, to Kimball in Brule County, South Dakota.

When she was a young girl she worked for some of the families in Kimball to help with housework and childcare. It was while working for the Cliff Law family that she met her future husband, William Alexander Hoobler. He was a schoolteacher and the Law children were among his pupils. William was also a carpenter and he also worked as a farmhand for two of his sister's husbands who had farms near Kimball.

Sadie was seventeen when she married William on Oct. 3, 1888. They were married for over sixty-two years and had five children. William was born in Wattsville, Ohio on Aug. 26, 1865 just four months after the Civil War ended. He was the son of Alexander Hoobler and Caroline Harlan.

William and Sadie lived in Kimball for the first fifteen years of their marriage and then went to Gann Valley, South Dakota in 1903. They moved to Nampa, Idaho in 1908 where William went into the real estate business with Charles Cushman and B.L. Johnson. They stayed for twenty-two years before moving to Sacramento, California. In 1936 they moved to Boise, Idaho where they spent their retirement years.

Sadie died on Mar. 1, 1951 at the age of 80 and William died on July 7, 1958 at the age of 93. Interment was in the Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise, Idaho. They had five children and there are 89 known descendants, including 3 sets of natural born twins.
