Esther R. Bankert, 90, of Westminster Retirement Center in Woodbridge, Va., formerly of Littlestown, died Wednesday, April 28, in Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge. Born July 1, 1908 in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late John and Lottie Kate Weikert Rudisill. Her husband, Clarence O. Bankert, died in 1978.
Mrs. Bankert was a life member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Littlestown, where she was a former council member. She was also a member of Adams County Retired Teachers, Pa. Retired Teachers, D.A.R. of Gettysburg, Eastern Star of Hanover and a former member of Littlestown Senior Citizens. A 1925 graduate of Littlestown High School and also a graduate of Millersville University, she had been an elementary school teacher for 43 years and retired from Littlestown Joint School System in 1971.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Nafzinger of Lake Ridge, Va , and Marion Michael of Bloomington, Ind; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at Little's Funeral Home, Littlestown, with her pastor, the Rev. Clifton J. Suehr, officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Littlestown. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 53 W King St., Littlestown, PA 17340
