Lucy was born to Nancy Victoria Compton and John Samuel Turner in the Falls Mills village of Tazewell County Virginia. She married Richard Spangler in 1900, and they had five children. The family lived in Falls Mills, Junta West Virginia and Bluefield Virginia. Later Lucy & Richard live for many years in Princeton WV. After her children were grown, she was a practical nurse and gave care and comfort to many patients. She and Rich returned to Falls Mills, built a log cabin, and retired on land that had come down from her Compton grandparents.
