It is with a feeling of sadness that I record the death of Miss Jessie W. Calder, eldest daughter of Mr Wm. Calder. Miss Calder was the embodiment of unselfishness and kindness; she seemed to devote her life to doing good to all with whom she came in contact; and as a natural consequence she was beloved by those who had the pleasure of her friendship. That this feeling was general, was evidenced on the day of her funeral when about 200 persons came to pay their last respects by following the remains to the Riverton cemetery, where rests the dust of her mother, who died over 20 years ago. The Rev. R. Ewen held a most impressive service at the house and, assisted by the Rev. W. McLaren, who officiated at the grave. 21st Jan.
