Ronald Dean Hontz Jr., the son of, Ronald Dean, Sr. and Judy Ann (Hilt) Hontz, was born October 21, 1963, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, July 23, 2010, in his home, near Grovespring, Missouri, at the age of forty-six years, nine months, and two days.

On August 23, 1986, he was united in marriage to Donita Rae Jenkins, and to this union three children were born.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gerald Hontz and his father and mother-in-law, David and Anna Jenkins.

Ron is survived by his wife, Donita, of the home; his children, Ronald Dean Hontz III, Anna Hontz, and Alvan Hontz, all of the home; his parents, Ronald, Sr. and Judy Hontz, of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Scott Hontz and his wife, Tammy, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Jeff Hontz and his wife, Susan, of Corning, Iowa; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

He was born and reared in Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated from high school. He attended Faith Baptist Bible College, in Ankeny, Iowa for a year and then went to Citadel Bible College in Ozark, Arkansas, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies. He met Donita a year before graduating and they married afterward. They later moved to Kansas City for a short time.

Ron had professed his faith in Jesus Christ and had felt Christ's call to feed his sheep in his high school years. He surrendered to that call and attended Bible College. He became the pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Galena, Missouri where he served for seven years. In 1997 he moved to the Grovespring area and served as pastor of the Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was presently the pastor of the Grace Outreach Bible Church near Hartville. He also worked evenings for Wal-Mart in Lebanon.

He centered his life around his family and the Lord's work. He was a kind and caring man, and would do anything to help anybody. He also enjoyed working on his farm raising cattle. In his spare time he liked watching television, was a fan of football, and loved joking and teasing with people.

Ron was a loving husband, devoted father, a cherished son and brother, and a faithful pastor. We celebrate his accomplishments and treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed, but will live on in our hearts forever.
