Florine was born in Hanford on Sept. 16, 1933 to Alfred V. and Mary Mello.
Florine was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church of Laton. She was also a member of SES Council 26 of Hanford, ISMM Circle No. 16 of Selma, St. Theresa of Hanford, IDES No. 108 of Riverdale, STRSI of Riverdale, Hanford Fraternal Hall and a kitchen organizer of the Riverdale Festa. Florine truly had a love for her family. She was a hard worker from the time she was a child, and loved the country life, along with all of the animals, "God's Critters", they brought great joy to her! And how she loved to take Sally and Dufus for a ride in the pick-up to go spray weeds. She also enjoyed having fun and spending time with her many adored circle of friends and spending Friday nights at the Laton Lions Hall listening to "music".
In her later years of life she found another joy, and that was to be a "caregiver". She cared for several people over this time span with love and devotion. The longest length of time was spent with Emily Orique of Lemoore, and these two together, were a "kick"! We want to "Thank" Emily's son-in-law and daughter, Frankie and Joyce Bautista, for having Florine be a part of their family for the 5 to 6 years that she cared for Emily and thereafter. Florine spent many holidays with this family and truly held them close to her heart.
We would also like to say a big Thank You to Hacienda Care Facility and their Staff for their dedication, patience and loving care that was provided to our mom along with the funny stories that they shared with us during her stay with them and after her passing.
Florine is survived by son Alvin Thomas and wife JoAnn of Visalia, son Mike Thomas and wife Kathie of Hanford, son Rick Thomas and wife Lisa of Laton; daughter-in-law Debbie Thomas of Hanford; brother Anthony Mello and wife Margaret of Fresno; sister-in-law Mary Mello of Pismo Beach; her aunts Emily Alves and Mabel Neves of Hanford; grandkids Steven Thomas of Fresno, Jessica Thomas of Hanford, Sarah Turner and husband Andy of Visalia; great-grandchildren Brendin Manuel Thomas, son of Steven Thomas; Sarah and Andy are expecting in December (Florine told her that she was going to have a boy) and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel, on Dec. 14, 1995; her parents, Alfred V. and Mary Mello; brother Alfred Mello Jr.; sister Florine Mello; many close and dear friends.
A heartfelt thank you to all who prayed for and spent time with our mom!
