DIED: Martin
On October 11, 1898, Mrs. A. Martin, aged 46 years, 11 months and 26 days.
The departed, Mary Jane, daughter of Peter and Susanna Shurts, was born in Des Moines County, Iowa, October 15, 1851. She was united in marriage to Mr. Al Martin, Mar 8, 1869, by Rev. N.B. Nash, of Fort Des Moines, Iowa.
She was the mother of twelve children. Two boys died in infancy and one girl who had grown to womanhood, leaving three girls and six boys, with a husband, to mourn her demise.
She was a kind mother and affectionate wife, and the community sympathize with the relatives in their sudden loss. She united with the Christian Church in 1868 and lived a faithful and devoted Christian, and is now gone to reap the reward of the faithful.
The funeral took place from the Delmar school house; Rev. Littell officiating, and the remains laid to rest in the Delmar cemetery, attended by a large concourse of mourning relatives and friends.
