A bricklayer from the age of 20 until he was 80 years old, George E. Barrett, 90, native of Huntington County and a resident of Fort Wayne since 1912, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Markle where he had been living the last three weeks. He had worked in Huntington and Fort Wayne for many years. Mr. Barrett was born October 9, 1873, in Huntington County, to John D. and Mary Shultz Barrett. His marriage was to Ida E. Thorne who died October 15, 1950. Surviving are a son, Arthur M. Barrett, Fort Wayne, and three grandsons, Dale of Fort Wayne, Donald of Connersville, and David, a student at Norman, Okla. A brother, James Barrett, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Hoover, who resided in Huntington, are dead. Member of First Brethren Church and Bricklayers Union of Fort Wayne. Bailey Mortuary. Rev. Harper S. Will. Burial will be in the Lancaster Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hayden Slagal, Rosil Valentine, Charles Circle, Clyde Baker, Ross Sells, and Raymond Holmes. Burial was in the Lancaster Cemetery.
