Amos E. Lucas

Morgan-Amos Edward Lucas, 83, of 81 Commercial, died this morning at his home of causes incident to age.

Mr. Lucas was born Oct. 27, 1879, in Salt Lake City, a son of Amos Josiah and Caroline Maiben Lucas. When he was 24 years of age he moved to Devils Slide where he resided 40 years. He had lived in Morgan 15 years.

On Aug. 11, 1906, he was married to Victoria Clarke in Salt Lake City.

He was formerly employed as chief chemist for the Ideal Cement Co., retiring in 1946. He was a member of Woodmen of the World, No. 74 and the LDS Church.

Surviving are his widow, one son, Clarke M. Lucas, Morgan; one daughter, Mrs. George M. (Katherine) Thompson, Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary L. Smith, Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel, Ogden, with Bishop Ted London of the Croydon Ward officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Interment in South Morgan Cemetery.
