Esmer Henrietta Haarstick, was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Erhard, Minn., to Henry and Ottillie (Vigen) Haarstick, and she grew up on the family farm and attended school. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church of Erhard.
On Dec. 15, 1951, she was married to Mavin Gillaspey at the Bagstevold Lutheran Church by Rev. Ralph Lindahl. She was a lifelong resident of Fergus Falls and most recently of Glenwood.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and was also active with the senior citizens, where she loved to play cards and bingo and also played in the kitchen band. She enjoyed going on bus tours, cross stitching, making and giving away cookies and Christmas goodies. She loved to visit her children and grandchildren and go with them to their church and attend their school events.
She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson, Jacob Gillaspey; great-grandson, Aidan Gades; her parents; three sisters: Francis Abbott, Gladys Swanson and Hazel Pederson; and one brother, Benard Haarstick.
The family requests memorials to the Maplewood Presbyterian Cemetery Fund in Erhard.
Visitation: One hour prior to services at the funeral home
