Larry K Oliver
Alexandria - Larry K Oliver 56, Alexandria, died June 6 2000 at his residence after an unexpected illness.
He was born April 12 1944 in Scottsburg, the son of Roy M Oliver and Dorothey E Taylor Oliver, and lived in Alexandria since 1973 moving here from Oklahoma City, Okla.
He had owned and operated the Alexandria Transmission Clinic from 1977 until 1998. He was currently employed as a security guard by Pinkerton Security Services of Indianapolis at Guide Corp. in Anderson.
He was a member of Alexandria Masonic Lodge 235 and the Piston Poppers Car Clug of Anderson. He served in the United State Air Force during the Cuban crisis. Larry was well known for his automotive mechanical abilities ad his love of restoring old cars. He was also an acomplished woodworker. He had established a reputation for making custom handmade professional quality pool cues.
Survivors inclue his wife of 32 years, Dee (Watkins) Oliver; two sons, Larry (wife, Jaie) Oliver II of Alexandria and Kevin Oliver of Anderson, daughter Dottie (husband, Mike) Collura of North Canton, Ohio: mother Dorothy Oliver of Anderson; sister, Donna (husband, Ron) Shell of Anderson; three grandchildren, Taylor Oliver, Morgan Oliver and Kevin Oliver and three nephews, Don Myrick, Darren Myrick and David Myick.
His father died in 1974 and a son Lamoine "Jack" Oliver, died in 197.
Services will be 1pm Saturday at Owens Funeral Home, Alexandria with the Rev Alvin B Dayton offciating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Friday at the funeral home. The Alexandria Masonic Lodge will conduct a memorial service at 7:30pm Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of the Bronnenberg Children"s Home through the funeral home.
