Son of William W. Minor, Sr and Maria Webb Minor. He served in the Union Army , Company "B" 39th regiment, Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War. He married Alice Lodema Bancroft on July 19, 1872. They were blessed with ten children, a set of twins passing just after birth and a daughter, Dessa, who died at about four years. He is buried in Beloit Cemetery just outside Inwood,Lyon, Iowa.
