Blood Poisoning Is Fatal To Shawmut Man.
A slight wound on his right hand cost Harvey Lankford, of Shawmut, his life last Monday. He died at the Valley Hospital in West Point, where he was being treated for blood poisoning in his hand, caused from a minor wound becoming infected. He was 39 years old and was an employee at the Shawmut Mill.
Surviving Mr. Lankford are his widow, Mrs. Estelle Browning Lankford; three daughters, Virginia, Laurie, and Norma Jean Lankford; three sons, Harvey, Jr., Charles, and Holland Lankford, all of Shawmut; three brothers, Aaron Lankford, Clyde Lankford, both of Lanett, and Odolphus Lankford, Pepperell, Ala.; three sisters, Mrs. Johnrde Roberts, Mrs. Sam Cole, both of Lanett, and Mrs. Haines Rudd of Opelika; father, William Lankford, Lanett.
He was a native of Chambers County and had lived in the Valley most of his life. He was a member of the First Christian Church of LaGrange. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from Macedonia, and burial was in the churchyard cemetery with Johnson & Blakely in charge of arrangements.
