Lewis/Louis Kallmyer, my immigrant ancestor, was the son of Christian Kallmyer and Henrietta Danzig. He and his family came from Clausthal in Hannover, Preuben, now Lower Saxony, Germany about 1854. They settled in Frostburg where Lewis married Ella Whetsell/Whetzel in 1878. He lost an arm as a child working in the mines and later worked as a peddler and laborer. Lewis was the brother of August Kallmyer and Johanna K. Houser, also Frostburg area residents.
