Charles was known to everyone as Pat. He married his wife, Dorothy of 23 years in Sitka, Alaska on July 20, 1985. He was blessed with 2 sons, Dennis Crowell from Nebraska and Sam Crowell of Oregon. He was one of eight children: 3 brothers: Bob (deceased) Albert of Nebraska, Mike of British Columbia. 4 sisters: Reba (Billy, deceased) Doris Meeks of California, Florence Schmit of Missouri and Myrtle Dirst of Nevada. He was also blessed with 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren. His extended family consist of: 1 stepdaughter, Judith of Olympia. 3 step grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren, 1 step great-great grandson.
He served his country in WWII from 1942-1946 as a Army Airforce B-17 Pilot. He received many decorations for his service, including 3 Purple Hearts.
He worked most of his working years as a millright in many different countries, as well as Chehalis and Sitka, AK.
Pat was quite the story teller, sharing many tales and adventures to his stepchildren and step grandchildren. Sometimes we thought he forgot where the tales ended and the truth began. He certainly was a one of a kind person in himself and once you met him you always knew him. He always had an opinion on every subject, and let you know it. He loved sitting on the front deck, and visiting with the neighbors.
We hope he knows he'll be missed....but never forgotten.
