Master Stone Mason, 89, Dies

Ernest L. Barger, 89, of 1426 Pattie, father of Max Barger, Wichita businessman, died Friday morning at Wesley Hospital after a 30-day Illness.

Born Oct, 31, 1870, in Paola, Kan., he came to Wichita in 1910. A master stone mason, he was in charge of construction of the stone building at Park Villa. He retired only a few years ago.

Mr. Barger was a member of the Zion Methodist Church. His wife, the former Lora Hamlin, died in 1951.

He contracted and built the residence known as the Old Home Place, 1608 E. 21st, where he lived until recent years,

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marian Firestone, Oak Park, ll.; two sons, Max L. of 1426 Pattie, and Harry L., of 550 Anna; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be announced by DeVorss-Gard Mortuary.

Monday Rites Set For Ernest Barger

Funeral services for Ernest L. Barger, 89, pf 1426 Pattie, retired master stonemason, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the DeVorss-Gard Mortuary, with the Rev. Ernest A. Hull, pastor of Zion Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Wichita Park Cemetery. Mr. Barger died Friday.

Casket bearers will be Harold, Forest, James and Gene Barger, Morris Wyant and Woddie Hipp.
