Elmo King Jones, age 74, died suddenly on Dec 9, 1995 at his ranch home in Uvalde County. Funeral services were held Dec 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Uvalde with Rev. Frank Walker officiating, assisted by Rev. Ken Waddell. Burial was at the Jones Ranch.

Mr. Jones was born to Henry and Macie (King) Jones on Feb 22, 1921 in Oakville, Texas. Later the family resided in George West where he attended school. He also attended Texas A&M College. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard early in WWII and served in the horse patrol of the Gulf Coast. Later he served aboard ships in the Pacific.

He married Marjory Scott on July 18, 1947 in Uvalde. They lived and worked in Mexico during the Aftosa Program. Returning to Uvalde, he joined the First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder from 1967 to 1976. He remained active in his church until his death and annually hosted the church picnic at his ranch. He was a lifetime rancher and a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattleraisers Association for many years.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sky and Tim Lewey of Unvalde; grandson Jeff Lewey of Uvalde; granddaughter Julie Ann Lewey of Uvalde; mother, Macie Jones of George West; sisters, Evelyn Joyce of George West and Virginia Smith of San Antonio; brothers Roy Jones of Oakville and Gene Jones of Kingsville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjory.
