"Elder Barton Rose, the subject of this obituary, was born Dec. 8th 1853 in North Carolina. He was married to Rebecca J. McComas July 17th 1873,, who made him a faithful and loving companion for about 60 years. He joined the Primitive Baptist Church at Rich Creek Dec. 17th 1892. He was libertized to exercise his gift for the ministry at the March meeting 1908 and was ordained to the full work of the ministry at the June meeting 1909, and was chosen moderator of the Rich Creek Church at the January meeting 1911 which position he held until Sept. 20th 1930 when he resigned on account of feeble health."
