The former Pauline Grimsby (Betty Grimsby) was born on January 2, 1928 in L'Anse, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ida (Williams) Grimsby. She was raised in Marquette, was a 1946 graduate of Bishop Baraga High School and had resided in the Carlshend area since 1955.
Betty was employed as an Adult Foster Care Worker for the State of Michigan for 15 years, receiving her Licensed Practical Nursing certification while working at the Army Hospital in Battle Creek. She was later employed locally with the former St. Luke's Hospital and Orchard Rest Home.
She represented the Upper Peninsula by serving on the State Advisory Board for three years, helping to formulate policy and laws governing Adult Foster Care within the State.
Betty was a former member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Marquette. She was married to William C. Webb on May 17, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors included her daughter, Mary Estrada of North Carolina; an adopted daughter, Becky (Robert) Riker of Gwinn; grandchildren, Robert Webb, Elizabeth and Amanda Estrada; great grandchildren, Andrew and Kristoffer Webb; nieces, Ruth Ann Grimsby and Teresa Grimsby, both of Gwinn, Donna Carello of Marquette, and Faye Shannon of Lake Havasu, AZ; several other nieces and nephews including Brandon Krause, Tony Krause, Don Krause and Jessica Zaragoza; also a dear friend, Jean Winters of Skandia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Ralph and William F. "Willy" Webb; also six brothers, Albert, Donald, Walter, Ernest, Clyde and William Grimsby; sisters, Clara Coats, Ann (Russell) Webb, and Darlene Webb; also a special aunt, Kathryn Fletcher.
