Death*: 10 December 1929; Ferndale, Washington, U.S.A.; "Former Resident Killed in Auto Crash: Word comes from Ferndale, Washington, of a tragedy in that neighborhood in which two former residents of this county met an untimely death. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Franklin of Mountain View, Washington, were almost instantly killed in an auto crash near Ferndale in December 10th last. Mr. Franklin was 82 years years old and was known, in spite of his age, as "the boy preacher", and Mrs. Franklin had reached the age of 79. Mr. Franklin is survived by two brothers and two sisters, all of whom live in this neighborhood. The brothers are H. M. Franklin, Orland and David J., Trenton. Mrs. Aurilla Bellyou, Trenton and Mrs. Martha J. Ames, Toronto, are sisters. Three sons, Roy Franklin, Ferndale, Marshall and Clarence of Los Angeles and three daughters, Mrs. Fred Kenoyer, Bellingham, Mrs. Samuel Edwards, Vancouver, B. C., and Mrs. Floyd Frye, Alberta, are left to mourn their loss. They also have 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The aged couple were both born in Northumberland County and were married 61 years ago in Colborne. Mrs. Franklin's maiden name was Adeline Chatterson and a number of close relatives still survive her in this locality." from page 8 of The Brighton Ensign, Jan. 30, 1930, seen on microfilm at The Ontario Archives, Feb. 22, 2017
