Couple Celebrates Wedding Anniversary

KENTON, Dec. 3 - Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Bixler, 401 N. Detroit-st, Wednesday celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A planned reception was postponed because of the illness of Mrs. Bixler.

The two were married Dec. 2, 1886, at the home of Mrs. Bixler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Riegel in Hellerton, Pa., by the Rev. I. R. Hisler. Mrs. Bixler was born Sept. 14, 1866, in Bethlehem, Pa. Bixler was born in Easton, Pa., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rush Bixler. The couple came to Kenton 32 years ago. Bixler is now president of the Kenton Hardware Co. They have four children: Harold of New York, N.Y., Louis of Fostoria, Willard and Linda of Kenton.

L. S. Bixler, 86, Dies in Kenton

Headed Hardware Manufacturing Concern

KENTON, Jan. 8 - L. S. Bixler, 86, Kenton manufacturer, died at 1 a.m. Monday in McKitrick hospital. He had been ill several months.

Mr. Bixler was president of the Kenton Hardware Co., a toy manufacturing concern. He was born Oct. 1, 1864, in Easton, Pa., and came to Kenton in 1904 as manager of the company. The firm was reorganized in 1912 and Mr. Bixler was elected president.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Masonic lodge, Kenton Athletic club, Kenton Business club and St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church.

His wife, Sybilla, died previously. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Linda Bixler, at home; three sons, Willard R. and Lewis Jr., both of Kenton, and Harold R., Darien, Conn.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Schindewolf funeral home. The Rev. Herbert E. Pfister will officiate. Burial will be in Grove cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home until after the services.
