Obit - 5-07-1991 - Cortland Standard - Grover E. Llbbey Sr. CORTLAND -- Services for Grover E. "Hoppey" Libbey Sr., 74, of 85A Bartlett Ave., who died Sunday at Cortland Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, Homer. Private burial will be in Taylor Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Libbey was a life resident of the Cortland area. He retired in 1977 as the operator of Libbey's BIG D in Groton. He also was employed 30 years with various farms in the Locke, Moravia and Genoa areas. He was a former member of the Locke and Moravia Baptist Churches. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Helena M.; three sons, Grover E. Jr. of Cortland, Lenny of East Homer and Roger of Columbus, Ohio; five daughters, Patricia Stisser, Lois English and Leah Cusson, all of Cortland, Joyce Adams of Groton and Shirley West of East Homer; two brothers, George and Roy, both of Fulton; three sisters, Ida Dashnau of Oswego, Bertha O'Brien of Martville and Leah Hall of Berkshire; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
