Wisconsin National Guardsman called to federal service as a member of A Company, 192nd Tank Battalion. He survived the sinking of the Oryoku Maru in Lingayen Gulf and was boarded on the Enoura Maru near San Fernando, La Union, in the Philippines. He was wounded when the Japanese "hell ship" he was on, the Enoura Maru, was bombed by American planes while docked at Hong Kong. He died from his wounds.
