Helen Evans, 89, of Fort Dodge, died October 20, 2017 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will be held in the Otho Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Helen Elizabeth Borer, the daughter of Willie and Muriel (Anderson) Borer, was born February 26, 1928. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and enjoyed her graduating class luncheons. Helen was employed with the State of Iowa with social services. She lived in Otho and in 1987 moved to Fort Dodge. She was a member of Riverside Methodist Church. She loved bird watching, gardening and her flowers.
Her legacy is her large family; her children, Denny (Toni) Lowrey, Sue (Danny) Smith, Craig (Peggy) Lowrey, Sherry Bartow, Cathy (Glen) Harris, Mick (Sheila) Evans, and Lonnie (Candice) Evans; 62 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Dorothy Grossnickle of Lehigh. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her son Philip Lowrey, her grandson Ryan Lowrey, great granddaughter Crystal Schwering, her siblings Delmar, Ted, Wayne and Beverly.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
