Man Killed By Baseball To Be Buried Thursday
Funeral services for Chester (Red) Lynn, 38, who was killed when he was struck by a baseball over the heart during a game between Homewood and Irondale Tuesday, will be held at the residence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lynn, 903 Alabama Avenue, at 3 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Ridout in charge.
Lynn was outfielder on the Homewood team. The game was being played at Shades-Cahaba High School and Lynn was at bat at the time the accident occurred. Finding of accidental death was returned by Deputy Coroner Earl Wilson.
Surviving Lynn are his widow, his parents, with whom he made his home; two sisters, Mrs. W. E. DeGroat, wife of Birmingham Detective DeGroat, and Mrs. J. L. Rowe, Falkville, Ala., and a brother, C. W. Lynn, Pell City.
