"Nathaniel Bacon III was the son of Nathaniel Jr. and Sarah (Hinckley) Bacon. His mother, Sarah, was the daughter of Governor Thomas Hinckley. He married Ruth Doggett, daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Mayhew) Doggett, on November 11, 1696 at Martha’s Vineyard by Major Mayhew. He was a deacon of the church, a blacksmith by trade, and kept a public house.

Nathaniel and Ruth had the following children:
1. Thomas Bacon (b: September 30, 1697 Barnstable, MA / d: 1698)
2. David Bacon (b: December 11, 1700 Barnstable, MA / d: ??)
3. Jonathan Bacon (b: March 11, 1703 Barnstable, MA / d: 1704)
