Harold was the son of Dr. Booker Ephram Rhudy and Margaret Hatch.

He was in the U.S. Navy during WW11

He worked for the North Carolina Dept. of Transportation.

He married Darinne Henderson who preceded him in death .

He also was preceded in death by a brother Booker Edward Rhudy .

He is survived by a sister Margaret Emily Lily and husband A.S. Lily.

Harold C. Rhudy, 85, died June 10, 2010. He was born Nov. 7, 1924 in Abingdon, VA to the late Dr. Booker E. Rhudy and Margaret Hatch Rhudy. He was raised in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Greensboro High School.

While serving in the US Navy during World War II, he spent time aboard the DE 528, USS John J. Powers on convoy duty in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and professional degree in transportation from NC State College. He worked for the City of Raleigh and City of Greensboro for a short time and then for 30 years with the NC Dept of Transportation.

He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, The Raleigh Power Squadron, and The Breakfast Optimist Club of Raleigh. He was known for a job well done and never shirked a responsibility.

He is survived by his sons, H. Craig Rhudy and wife Malana of Valencia, CA, and J. Richard Rhudy and wife Laura of Canton, GA; daughter, Margaret Rhudy Huffman and husband, Daniel J. Huffman of Oviedo, FL; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Emily Lily and husband A. S. Lily of Flagler Beach, FL, sister-in-law Mary B. Rhudy. He is predeceased by his wife Darinne Henderson Rhudy and brother B. Edward Rhudy.
