Jerry Ross, 81, grower/rancher

Jerry Ross, 81, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2004, at his home. He was born in Orlando on June 24, 1923. He attended the University of Florida and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a veteran of WW II. He was a citrus grower and cattle rancher in Orange and Sumter counties.

An avid sportsman, his hobbies included big game hunting, fishing and skin diving. He was a talented artist and an accomplished wood carver. He served on the Board of the Central Florida Fair and was a member of the Orange County Sportsman's Association, the Committee of 100 and the Safari Club International.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Ross Edinger and Mary Rock, and son, Harold Martyn Ross.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lillian McLeod of Bushnell; sons, Charles Rock Ross of San Francisco, Calif., and Alan McLeod Ross of Orlando; daughter, Elizabeth (Vince) Ruano of Bushnell; granddaughter, Mary (Greg) Lovett of Inverness; grandson, Ryan Ruano of Fort Lauderdale; and great-granddaughter, Lindsey Lovett of Inverness. Services were held Aug. 31 at the Carey Hand

Colonial Funeral Home, Orlando and interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.
