MOOREVILLE - Gary Paul Dickerson, 58, died Sept. 26, 2008, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Nov. 27, 1949, in Tupelo to Paul E. "Bid" and Earline Smith Dickerson. He was a 1967 graduate of Mooreville High School and a 1974 graduate of the University of Mississippi. He was a United States Navy Corpsman who served with the Marine Corps as a veteran of the Vietnam War and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He married his wife, Diane, Nov. 27, 1971. He made Mooreville his home the past 34 years. He served as an Election Commissioner, enjoyed coaching, ball teams and was an avid Ole Miss Rebel and Mooreville Trooper fan. He also served as a long-time counselor for the Rustic Youth Camp. He was a member of Northeast church of Christ.

Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery with full military honors. W.E. Pegues Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; and an infant brother, Daniel Gregg Dickerson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
