HARRISBURG — The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at 601 Smith St., Harrisburg, for Frederick W. "Fred" Lanz of Harrisburg, who died July 30 of complications following a fall. He was 91. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield.

He was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Tologa (sic), Okla. He married Drotha Lewelling on Oct. 11, 1939, in Tologa. She died Aug. 29, 2005.

He was a farmer and worked as a long haul truck driver in Oklahoma and Oregon. He drove trucks for City Fuel of Eugene. He retired as a boiler operator at Eugene Water & Electric Board in 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Eugene of Creswell and Alfred of Scio; a daughter, Betty Littlejohn of Eugene; two brothers, Buel of Wasilla, Alaska, and James of Terrebonne; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A granddaughter, Wendy Lanz, died previously.

Burial will be held Saturday at Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg. Remembrances to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend's palliative care services.
