Services for Mrs. Charles E. Longstreet, 67, who died Sunday, June 22 in Murphy Memorial hospital of complications following a broken hip, will be Wednesday June 25 at 10 a. m. at the Perryman Chapel. Mrs. Longstreet has been in poor health for 11 years. Rev. Carl B. Robinson will officiate. Music will be by Mrs. Orrin Carmichael, vocalist, and Mrs. Dale Petty, organist. Severing on the floral committee will be Mrs. L.E. Fox, Mrs. Blanche Brayton, Mrs. Zeph Morgan, and Mrs. Ross Dixon. Bearers will be John R. Loomis, Leroy H. Johnson, Zeph Morgan, Earl Dixon, U.S. Arney and Paul McKenzie. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. There will be an Eastern Star service by the Red Oak chapter. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Root, she was born in Polk county and moved with her parents to Cumberland and later Massena in 1907. The Longstreet's moved to Red Oak in 1918. Mrs. Longstreet was a member of the First Christian church and was a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star here. She is survived by her husband, Charles, Montgomery county clerk; two sons, Sam C. of San Gabriel, California; and Rex T. of Shenandoah; two sisters, Mrs. George Pawley of Pasadena, California; and Mrs. Bessie Treat of Springfield, Missouri; a brother Walter T. Root of Cumberland and three grandchildren. – June 23, 1952.
