Dr. Edward Wagoner, 61, a well known
and highly esteemed physician
of Burrows, where he had practiced
for the past 32 years, succumbed to
heart disease last Saturday morning
a t 4:30 o'clock at tho Methodist hospital,
Indianapolis, which he entered
about three weeks previous in a critical
condition. He had received treatment
at the hospital at various times
during the past year. He had been
critical for some time and his death
did not come unexpected, either to
the immediate family or the large legion
of friends over carroll county.
Deceased, who was a son of George
and Sarah Wagoner, was born near
Flora. He grew to young manhood
and attended the rural schools and
then, in 1903, graduated at Indiana
University School af Medicine and
immediately opened an office in Burrows,
where he had since been located.
He bad always enjoyed a large
practice. In 1910 he was elected coroner
of carroll county on the Democratic
ticket, serving in that capacity
one term. He was an active worker
in the Burrows Presbyterian church,
being one of its elders. Surviving are
the widow, Ella; three children, Dr.
George Wagoner, an interne at the
hospital where his father died; Mrs.
Ruth Darragh, of Wabash, and Mrs.
Mary Rinehart, of near Burrows; one
brother, Ross Wagoner, of near Camden;
two sisters, Mrs. Edith Leslie, of
South Bend, and Mrs. Stella Flora, of
Nappanee; five grandchildren and a
huge circle of friends. Funeral services
were held at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday
afternoon at the Burrows Presbyterian
church, the pastor, Rev. H. Hugo,
officiating. Burial was made in Maple
Lawn cemetery, just east of Flora.
