He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Cottingham of Dillon, S.C. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dillon.
He enlisted September 1916 at age 15 and was the first Dillon County boy to go to France for overseas service.
He died at age 17. He was survived by his parents, and by sisters and brothers.
