He died in area of Chateau Thierry, France during WW I according to data in "The Meighen Sept in America and Ireland" by Bernard Patrick Meighen. [This was fought earlier than his death...He was wounded in the battle for Blanc Mont Ridge on October 4 and died from those wounds on October 19. ]
He had been farming at Rt.1, Leroy, MN before entering the Service. The book said that he had attended college. Thomas never married.
He was preceded in death by his father who died 25 Jan 1917.
Thomas was survived by his mother,Mary Meighen and his older brother, John F. D. Meighen who was a prominent lawyer in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
[NOTE: The "buried in American cemetery near Paris" could be Suresnes or it could be a temporary cemetery. Many Americans were buried in temporary cemeteries and were moved to the larger permanent cemeteries in the 1920's.
Meighen's Regiment (5th Marine Regiment) was part of the U.S. Army 2nd Division.

Occupation, student. Residence, Leroy. Entered service Dec., 1917, at St. Paul, in the U. S. Marine Corps. Assigned to 49th Co., 5th Reg., 2nd Div. Trained at Paris Island and Quantico, Virginia. Went overseas in April, 1918. Wounded Oct. 4, 1918, in the battle at Blanc Mont Ridge, and died from these wounds Oct. 19, 1918, in American Red Cross Hospital No. 5 in Paris.
