DELMAR -- Harry Karl Alexander, 74, of Delmar passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010.

Harry was born Jan. 8, 1936, in Elkton, Md., to Harry and Anna Karl Alexander.

Harry was president and owner of Lewis Steel Products in Salisbury. Graduating from the University of Delaware in civil engineering, he was a certified registered professional engineer for the states of Maryland and Delaware. He was a professional member of the American Institute of Steel Construction Inc.

His strong faith and commitment to the Lord found him involved in numerous lay witness missions and bible studies throughout the years. He was a founding member, and last acting original board member, of the radio station WOLC. He was a founding member and an elder of Family Ministries in Bridgeville. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Lewis Alexander, of Delmar; children, Jeffrey L. Alexander and his wife, Becky, of Salisbury and their two children, Heather and Ryan, Beverly A. Rehm and her husband, Dan, and their children, Katie, Sarah, Andy and Danielle of Salisbury, Gregory K. Alexander and his wife, Terri, and their children, Greg Jr. and Jennifer of Hebron, Brian T. Alexander and his fiance, Amanda Jenkins, of Salisbury and Wade A. Alexander and his wife, Shannon, and their children, Laken, Wyatt and Mason of Delmar; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Gabe; two aunts, Jean Richards and Marjori Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald S. Alexander.

A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church in Salisbury. A visitation will be held this evening from 6-8 at Holloway Funeral Home and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
