2Lt. Jack Edward Adkins B-29 navigator was killed in action near Agartala, India August 7, 1944. Jack was born January 5, 1918 in Wheeler County, Nebraska to William and Ella Adkins. He married Alice Isabel Roche June 22, 1940 in Williams, Ohio. They had a daughter Mary Alice born in Ann Arbor, Michigan December 14, 1941.
Prior to entering the service Jack was employed by the United States Postal Service in Battle Creek, Michigan.
He enlisted July 27,1942 in US Army AIr Forces, attending AAF Aerial Navigation School at Selman Army Air Field, Monroe, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. He served with the 679 AAF Bomb Squadron.
Jack was survived by his wife Alice, daughter Mary Alice and mother Ella all of Battle Creek, brothers Carl and Paul, sisters Rose and Lillian. He was preceded in death by his father William.
