Kenneth served as a Seaman First Class, U.S.S. Braine (DD-630), U.S. Navy during World War II.
He resided in Wells, York County, Maine prior to the war.
Kenneth was declared "Missing In Action" when the Braine was hit in quick succession by two suicide planes during the war. The first hit forward seriously damaged the bridge, and the second hit amidships and blew number two funnel overboard and demolished the amidships superstructure.
He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Kenneth also has a "Cenotaph" in the Riverside Cemetery, Yarmouth, Maine with his parents.
