Lawrence Loyall entered the U.S. Marine Corps from Arkansas and served with the 2nd Marine Division. He was killed in action on November 21, 1943 during the Battle of Tarawa. Sergeant Loyall was wounded in action during the battle, transported out to a medical ship where he later succumbed to his wounds. He was buried at sea.
Today, Sergeant Loyall is memorialized on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
