Warren Sheaf Obituary:

Cameron David Edgar (18 years, 6 months, 14 days), son of Mrs. Winnie Edgar of near
Warren who was an Aviation Radio Mechanic Third Class in the U.S. Navy was killed in
action in an airplane in combat service on Friday, July 30, 1943, a telegram reaching
Warren yesterday afternoon from the Navy Department revealed.

Cameron had been serving on an airplane carrier in the combat area, but no details
were given as to the whereabouts the tragedy took place, other than that he was in
Foreign Service. Mrs. Edgar was informed that further details would be forwarded later.
The death of Cameron Edgar marks the first Warren casualty in active service since the
start of the war.

Cameron was the first of Mrs. Edgar's sons to enlist in the service, enlisting shortly after
the declaration of the war. Three other sons are in active service, Donald being in
England, Richard in the South Pacific, and Kenneth in the Hawaiian Islands.
Memorial services will be held at the First Methodist Church in Warren Sunday at 2:00
PM for the two sons of Mrs. Winnie Edgar, Cameron David of the U.S. Navy and
Corporal Charles Richard of the U.S. Marines, who have lost their lives in this war.
Cameron Edgar was killed while serving on a ship in the Pacific on Friday, July 30,
1943, being one of the first Warren servicemen to meet death through enemy action.
Corporal Charles R. Edgar died early in April 1945 from wounds received in action on
Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands.
