SSgt. Englemann served as a left waist gunner aboard B-29 #42-63501 "The Jumping Stud" with Kilgo's Crew. While flying southwest of Tokyo, his bomber was rammed by WO Shirobe Tanaka, who was flying a Kawasaki Ki-61, aka a "Tony". The Japense pilot ejected before the collision, but the crew of the bomber all perished, crashing into Tokyo Bay.
