Abner marries Julia Edwards on 22 Feb 1871 in Taylor County, Georgia. They have at least six children.

It seems likely Abner fought in the Civil War. I find records for an Abner Jones who enlists in Company G, Georgia 13th Infantry Regiment as a 3rd Sergeant on 08 Jul 1861 and mustered out on 10 May 1865 at Tallahassee, FL. I also found an Abner F. Jones who enlists (date unknown) in Company A of the 2nd Regiment, Georgia Cavalry as a private which is this Abner's rank when he leaves the regiment.

Abner and Julia's children:
*Roberta "Berta/Bertha" (1872-1927; FAG# 56883526) who married James Campbell (?-1890; FAG# 56884021)
*Robert Edward (1872-1898; FAG# 56199898)
*Samuel Jones (~1878-?; living in NY in 1922, still living in 1926)
*Hugh Willett (1883-1962; FAG# 84939339) who married Florence Smith (1890-1963; FAG# 84939227)
*James Campbell (1886-1957; FAG# 56199555) who married Louise Wright (1887-1984; FAG# 56199716)
*Mary (born ~1889, died before 1900)

Another possible child:
*Helen Browney Jones (1897-1976; FAG# 40868405) who married Charles Vernon "Charles" Westall (1893-1974; FAG# 40868385)
--In the 1900 and 1910 US federal censuses, she is listed as ABner & Julia's niece. In the 1927 obituary of Roberta Jones Campbell, she is listed as Roberta's daughter.

Abner and Julia live in Macon, GA from the 1880 to the 1910 US federal censuses. I have not located them in the 1920 census yet but Julia's 1922 census refers to their Macon residence. Julia passes away in 1922 while visiting the family of their son Campbell in Memphis, Tennessee. After 1922, Abner is either visiting or living with his daughter, the widow Mrs. Roberta Jones Campbell in Ashville, North Carolina as that is where he passes away. At the age of 88, Abner joins her. Abner and Julia are both buried in Riverside Cemetery as are several of their children.
