Cousino served with the 393rd Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. Throughout the town of Rocherath, Belgium, the Germans had set up positions in windows and alleys to harass U.S. patrols. During a night patrol on December 17, 1944, Cousino was killed in action.
