Pvt Grayhem was a member of the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment and was believed to have been attached to a unit of Lieut. Gen. Courtney Hodge's First Army. Grayhem entered the Army on October 4, 1943, and left October 25, 1943, from Lancaster. He received training at Camp Chaffee in Arkansas and Fort Meade in Maryland. Grayhem was sent across early July to France, and was in Belgium, according to a letter he wrote his wife, dated September 18, 1944.
Pvt Grayhem was employed in Sluer department at Plant 1, Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation, for about four years.
