Omer Nadeau enlisted in the military on September 16, 1940. Prior to combat, Private Nadeau received training in Louisiana, California and Georgia. He deployed with the 7th Armored Division on June 6, 1944, then to France in August of 1944. He was Missing in action on 15 April 1945, near Dalhausen, Germany, when his Company was part of a Task Force of tanks and Infantry making an attack on an enemy position. Subject casualty was on the lead platoon of tanks when it encountered a heavy artillery barrage. The Infantry dismounted from the tanks to seek cover. The platoon kept moving forward and later when it was being reorganized, PVT Nadeau was not present.
